Immigrating to New Zealand

There are four main entry categories of visas available for people wishing to migrate to New Zealand, namely skilled migrant, work to residence, family and business.

General Skilled Migration (Age limit is 55)

There are two stages of applying for residence under the Skilled Migrant Category in New Zealand: An expression of interest (EOI), which is the first stage, needs to be submitted to Immigration New Zealand.

The EOI will indicate how many points you will qualify for under the relevant criteria. All EOI’s submitted are held in a pool and selected according to your points. In terms of stage two, if the EOI is selected from the pool and deemed to meet the requirements at the time, then you will be invited to apply for residence in New Zealand based on the points you qualified for. Having a firm job offer is not a mandatory requirement but it will generally improve your chances.

The Essential Skills In Demand Lists are the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) and the Immediate Skill Shortage List (ISSL) Click here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/063ECB35-F5D5-44D8-8325-7041A727A9D5/0/1093.pdf to check if you are on the Long Term Skill Shortage list.
